ABOUT
McAllister's on York
Richard McAllister purchased 217 acres from John Digges in 1745 establishing the town of Hanover, PA. At his death in 1795, Hanover's population numbered around 500 people .
The Richard McAllister Hotel was built in the 1920s and included about 70 hotel rooms . After the second world war the hotel had difficulty competing with new hotels and turned into a retirement community. This use was abandoned in the 1980s and in 1993 the food and beverage business shut down. In 1999, the building was renovated and converted into 34 apartments.
In 2019 Jordan Ilyes purchased the build and renovated it into 30 market rate apartments and approached the owners of The Handsome Cab located at 106 N George St in York, PA to open a restaurant on the first and second floor.
Robert Godfrey and Andrew D'Agenias agreed and began the journey to create a beautifully designed restaurant space to add to the burgeoning Hanover, PA offerings and renaissance.
